NASA Spacecraft Confirms Martian Water, Mission Extended
Breaking news . . . NASA is reporting water on mars. Scientists confirmed the discovery yesterday, after laboratory tests unearthed ice in a sample pulled from the Martian Planet’s surface. Samples were gathered via the robotic arm of NASA’s Phoenix Mars Lander, a high tech spacecraft and roving laboratory.
University of Arizona’s, Dr William Boynton, is leading the quest for what NASA calls, “The Martian Holy Grail:” water and habitable conditions on Mars. “We have water” Boynton announced victoriously at yesterday’s news conference.
“We’ve seen evidence for this water ice before in observations by the Mars Odyssey orbiter and in disappearing chunks observed by Phoenix last month, but this is the first time Martian water has been touched and tasted.”
Considering, NASA will now extend the Phoenix Mars Lander’s mission by five weeks. But first, NASA scientists raise both champagne glasses and hopes the Red Planet does indeed contain traces of life . . . (insert creepy space music here).
