Thanks so much to all of you for taking the time to meet with me on July 31st — it was a pleasure meeting you! Really looking forward to hammering out style points, production flow and budget that works for you so that we can expand Makeover Solution’s market exposure.

Below you will find the videos I sent prior to our meeting as well as all of those which I screened for you.

However from our meeting, I came away with the sense that to get the “Current TV” pod aesthetic you like so much (I am familiar with Current and the “street style” segments):

– we should shoot mini-DV with the DVX since it is the look that speaks to you.
– we want to keep the editing simple
– even intimate cellphone camera video might be a useful stylistic approach

Therefore please take a look at a few clips that I did not show you:

NEW CLIPS 1)

Done simply with ONE CAMERA and NATURAL LIGHTING. You will notice that there is no excuse for not being able to get good b-roll even during a 20 minute shoot:

To demonstrate the superior quality of the product Big City delivers, here is a video with Jack which WE DID NOT PRODUCE, but is from the same press day and is shot at the same location done for Spring.com:

Please notice:
– the poor lighting (reflection of tungsten light on the wall next to the fire place)
– the flat camera angle and lack of alternate camera angles to cut to as well as the distracting dissolves used to remove material
– the awkward way the interview is conducted and our host is left to sit there with nothing to do

Also as a side note to point out the atomization of some of our vids, we repurposed a 20 second clip without graphics as an “eco-tip” that was picked up by Ecorazzi among others.

Although this is the “MTV” type cutting the network wanted, the content and production approach demonstrates a few things.

Segment 1:
Man on street SHOT WITH A SINGLE CAMERA, two hosts find out “how many lipsticks women have in their handbags.”

Segment 2:
A store with lots of costume wear using SIMPLE GRAPHICS DONE IN FINAL CUT PRO.

Segment 3:
An un-hosted interview with a Latina musical performer about her clothes and style. SHOT ON NYC STREETS with ONE CAMERA. Please note use of INSERT DETAIL SHOTS and that the subject is WALKING AND NOT STANDING AROUND. Activities are good for web videos.

NEW CLIP 3) TreeHugger.com Man on the Street Video: Toxic Sex Toys
This was shot with one camera (DVX-100), uses text to add information in post-production IN DIALOGUE with the material acquired on location and employs a STUNT (SNIFFING A DILDO) to get good material:
